Carmelita: I don't get it, Cooper. I've hunted you for years, tried to throw you behind bars - but when you get a chance to leave me in a cage, you set me free - why?
Sly Cooper: Carmelita, we may be on opposite sides of the law, but you're not my enemy. Now, the homicidal robotic owl that built this death ray and nearly gassed us to death - that guy's on my list!
― The two calling a truce[src]
After escaping the deadly gas chamber, Carmelita was curious as to why Sly did not leave her trapped in Clockwerk's clutches, seeing as she is his enemy. Sly explained that while they may be on opposite sides of the law, they are not enemies. Carmelita agreed with Sly that Clockwerk was the real enemy and that they should work together to take him down, therefore the two decided to call a temporary truce.
Suddenly, a robo-falcon swooped down, and as Sly attempted to destroy it, the falcon swiped his cane. Carmelita was able to shoot out the falcon, but the cane was dropped on top of Clockwerk's factory. Knowing that he needed the cane, Sly made a desperate run to recover it, while Carmelita protected provided cover for him. Carmelita also advised Sly to make his way to the top of Clockwerk's death ray, as she stashed her jetpack before she was capture. After Sly recovered his cane, he ventured to the death ray to retrieve Carmelita's jet pack.
