Bentley: I hope you realize that by saving Carmelita we're only making our operation more difficult.
Sly: Maybe so, but what's the fun in stealing if there's nobody trying to catch you? Besides, she's helped us out in the past.
Bentley: That, and you've got a thing for her.

Background[edit | edit source]
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Bentley found out that Don Octavio hired the Blue Viper Gondola Gang to dispose of Inspector Carmelita Fox, who was on her daily patrol. Bentley contacted Sly about it, and while Sly made his way to the rendezvous point, Bentley hot-wired a police gondola. Once Sly made it, the two of them set off in the gondola, with Bentley controlling the turret while Sly drove.
The canal Bentley and Sly were chasing the Vipers in was packed with other boats and obstacles, so they needed to mind their surroundings during the chase. After defeating the three Vipers, Sly and Bentley returned to the dock. Carmelita was completely unaware of what transpired, and finished her patrol without incident. As she returned to the police station, Carmelita commented on how she had another uneventful patrol, to the point where it was "too quiet for her tastes."
Once Sly and Bentley returned to the dock, Bentley warned Sly that by saving Carmelita, they were only making their operation more difficult. Sly agreed, but reminded him that she had been a help to them before. Bentley also pointed out that Sly also had a thing for her. While Sly admitted it, he changed the subject by telling Bentley that he would stash the police boat somewhere safe, as it could come in handy for later.
