Monaco was a location primarily featured in The Adventures of Sly Cooper issue 1, "Stealing by Numbers." Madame D'Oinkeau says "We're the toast of all Monaco" when referring to the engagement party between her and Dimitri Lousteau. Dimitri owned a museum here, filled with all of his forgeries, as well as the Venus de Whalo, a statue presented to him by Ms. D'Oinkeau.
Sly 2: Band of Thieves[]
Monaco was originally intended to be released in Sly 2: Band of Thieves, but was cut for unknown reasons. It was supposed to take place at a Mediterranean seaside casino resort in which Bentley was going to hijack a massive yacht and smash it into the casino. It is assumed that this would have been an episode featuring Dimitri as the boss due to the fact that Monaco is surrounded on three sides by France.
The Cooper Gang actually does travel to Monaco in the final game, but only as part of a cutscene.[1]
Trivia[]
- After completing 80% of Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, you unlock the video "The Evolution of Sly" that shows an early version of Monaco being explored.
- The buildings in the Monaco level are pink and the water is purple, resembling the level in Sly 2, "A Starry Eyed Encounter."
