Paris is a recurring location in the Sly Cooper series. It is the capital and most populated city of France, situated along the Seine River.

History

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus

In Sly Cooper And The Thievius Raccoonus, Sly broke into INTERPOL's headquarters in Paris to steal a case file on the Fiendish Five. After stealing the file, he had to escape Inspector Carmelita Fox, who chased after him. The Cooper Gang's hideout was in a train car on the outskirts of the French city, as seen in cutscenes.

The Adventures of Sly Cooper issue 1

In the first issue of The Adventures of Sly Cooper, Sly infiltrates a party in Monaco to steal a statue. After this, Sly encountered Carmelita, initiating a flashback story of their first meeting in a Parisian opera house.

Sly 2: Band of Thieves

In Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Paris was the location of the hub world for "The Black Chateau," where Dimitri, a member of the Klaww Gang, was situated, along with his nightclub. He employed various warthogs, rats and frogs as his guards.

Paris also appeared as the final location in the game after Arpeggio's blimp crashed into the city.

The Adventures of Sly Cooper issue 2

In the second issue of The Adventures of Sly Cooper, Sly and Murray rescued Bentley from a hospital in Paris. Finally, Sly infiltrated into Carmelita's apartment to locate a blueprint.

Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves

In a post-credits scene in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, Sly Cooper held hands with Carmelita on a balcony in Paris, which was seen through the eyes of Bentley.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

Paris served as the location in the prologue and epilogue of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. Sly met up with Bentley and Murray and was promptly invited to join a heist after a hiatus. Sly had to break into Cyrille Le Paradox's museum to steal an ancient Japanese dagger.

LeParadoxEiffelTower

The Eiffel Tower with a sculpture Le Paradox's head atop it.

At the end of the game, after Le Paradox tampered with the past to create a false royalty for himself, he had come into control of Paris. One of the major changes was the mounting of a large sculpture of his head atop the Eiffel Tower. This was undone after Sly and the rest of the gang defeated him.

Other appearances

The following is based on non-canon content and is not considered to be part of the Sly Cooper continuity.

Playstation Move Heroes

In the early part of the game, Sly and Bentley appear on top of a house in Paris where Murray is stuck in a trap with lasers. When Sly tries to save him, he nearly falls onto the lasers but is suspended in midair. Paris has new streets and new guards. The guards are of Dimitri and of Arpeggio. Afterwards, Paris has pirates, guards and Agorians.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale

In PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Paris appears as a stage. The stage takes place on one of Paris' rooftops, with two antennas and a water tower that the players can hop on. There is also a raised platform on the right that can be accessed. Eventually, the Negativitron from LittleBigPlanet 2 comes out and begins sucking up things in the background. He will then assault the stage, trying to suck players up and hit them with lasers to drain AP, and he will suck in the antennas and water tower as time passes.

Non-canon information ends here.

Geography

Overview

Paris is generally an urban city featuring many tall, adjacent buildings and alleyways. Cars are usually seen driving around, plus the Eiffel Tower is often seen nearby.

Police Headquarters

Police Headquarters is a large building used by Inspector Carmelita Fox and her police forces in Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus.

Police Headquarters from Sly 1

Police HQ

The Police Headquarters has a bright blue neon sign that reads "Le Police" (French for "The Police"). On the roof is a small water tower, along with several breakable items. It has an air vent that Sly used to sneak his way inside, and inside the shaft are yellow lasers. There are a few small hallways on the interior. Inspector Fox's old office here is behind a red door, while other rooms have green doors. Carmelita's office is where the first vault in the game is located, and there are several breakables in there as well. Just outside of her office is a fire escape that leads down to a parking lot packed with police cars and barricades.

Le Paradox's museum

Le Paradox's museum

The museum

This museum is located in present-day Paris, owned by the skunk billionaire Cyrille Le Paradox. To the public, it currently serves as a museum of rare antiquities, but it secretly served as the center of Le Paradox's operations to steal antiquities from around the world.[1]

The place was well-guarded and had some tight security systems. It was guarded by rat trooper guards employed by Le Paradox, and there were also security choppers flying around. It took all three gang members skills to be able to bypass the security, and steal the dagger. Coincidentally, Le Paradox was having a meeting in his museum with two of his lieutenants, Toothpick and Miss Decibel, about their objectives in their respective time periods.

Trivia

  • In Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, the tutorial level in Paris has a well-known glitch to jump into the streets of Paris. While down on the road it is revealed that all of the buildings (besides the police headquarters) can be walked through. The boundary goes on for a long way, ending a bit past the Eiffel Tower which leads to a never-ending fall.
  • The third game of the series, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, is the only game in the series that does not have a level in Paris; rather, it only has a cutscene at the end of the game.
