Rooftop guards are enemies that appear in Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. These guards are smaller and less powerful than flashlight guards and take three to five hits to defeat as Sly Cooper. As their name suggests, they are usually found on the roofs of buildings but will jump down to ground level to continue chasing their target. They usually carry less valuable loot than flashlight guards. If the player is detected by a rooftop guard, it may alert all guards of every type around the area. They can also call for reinforcements to give the Cooper Gang a hard time.

Every location in the aforementioned games features two types of rooftop guard. In Sly 2, one of the two guards will stand up immediately after being hit, while the other will kick up, damaging the player if they are near enough. In lieu of a kick attack, some guards carry bullhorns to call other enemies in area. In Sly 3, rooftop guards can also dodge attacks by either jumping over the swing or by moving to either side of a jump attack.

In Sly 2, rooftop guards are the only present enemies in Paris until the completion of "Breaking and Entering," after which flashlight guards will appear roaming the hub world.
