Let TOM do his thing and grab the guards' attention... allowing you to slip on by unnoticed.
― In-game description[src]

TOM is a power-up that can be used to make a lot of noise that will distract all enemies in range, enabling the player to slip past them. It is only available in Sly 2: Band of Thieves for Sly Cooper, and is obtained by using a cheat code (d pad left d pad left d pad down d pad right d pad left d pad right) that must be entered while the game is paused.

Description[edit | edit source]

TOM (an acronym for Toonami Operations Module) is the robot mascot of a cartoon block called Toonami, which initially ran on Cartoon Network before its cancellation in 2008. Toonami was relaunched in 2012, currently running on Cartoon Network's late-night Adult Swim block.

During the development of Sly 2, the incarnation of TOM that hosted Toonami was TOM 3. As such, TOM 3 is the incarnation used for the TOM power-up in Sly 2.

Use[edit | edit source]

TOM shouting.

To use it, the player must press the assigned button (l1, l2 or r2) and aim where they want Sly to throw it, using the arrow that appears. When the button is released, TOM will be thrown and will attract nearby guards, allowing the player to either escape or eliminate them. It will self-destruct after a limited amount of time.

Unlike the Alarm Clock, a similar power-up, TOM will not ring. Instead he shouts either "hey, hey, hey!" or "hey, hey, peanuts!"
